Michael
M. Pixley is a retired Foreign Service Officer, has a graduate
degree in Near Eastern Languages and Literature from the University
of Washington and was working on a Ph.D. in Ottoman Studies
at the University of Toronto before joining the Foreign Service
in 1977. During his career, he spent 10 years in Turkey, while
also serving in London, Vienna and Baghdad. He is now an antiquarian
book specialist concentrating on books pertaining to the Ottoman
Empire, Islam and Central Asia.
